The Tower of Reconciliation at John Hope Franklin Reconciliation Park in Tulsa gives voice to those died and were brutalized in the Greenwood Massacre while depicting the sweeping history of the African-American struggle. The tower is the work of sculptor Ed Dwight, the first Black male to graduate from Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, Kansas. Dwight served in the Air Force and might have been a pioneering astronaut but for what he called the “racial politics” of the day.
